October update

Not a single post for October, November, or December? I must be a homeschool mom to four kids 8 and younger.

Let's chat October:

We updated Colby's bedroom and turned it into a bonus room. We bought a new coach and sideboard, TV, and we'll store a few toys and book in the room as well. It's been so nice already with these colder months to have an extra space somewhere, even if it's tiny.

We did a final camping trip to Challis hot springs with the Van Ettens. Our kids are homeschool buddies and it was nice to be invited by Blake and DD. Logan made a lot of progress with his swimming.

We had some really fun co-op activities with our homeschool group: potato harvest, rock collecting, hiking at Cress Creek near Rexburg and Craters of the Moon, and a Halloween co-op party.

Emmett and Logan worked really hard with running club and finished their season. Emmett got his first medal at a big meet placing 20th of 25 at Ririe, and he also medaled at Districts getting 7th overall for the 1st-2nd grade division.

In homeschool the kids did a Viking unit study for social studies and absolutely loved it. So many cool projects, and lots of growth in their writing.

Justin ran flag football for parks and rec which both big kids participated in. Logan scored several touchdowns each week! Emmett played up one level and he managed to get a touchdown toward the end of the season.

We took the two big kids to see Joseph and the Technicolor Coat in Rexburg. It was fun to show them our old stomping grounds, especially the Romney building with all its scientific treasures.

At the end of the month, the Stewarts invited us to go mountain biking on the backside of the Number hill near Butte City. That was a new experience for us both - we borrowed their very fancy mountain bikes that have a gear low enough to actually climb the mountain, and then we learned how to come down and actually enjoy it.

Finally we did all the things Halloween: the kids had a Halloween party with co-op, then they did the Mackay carnival, and then we did the Arco Boo on the Boulevard and the Lost River trunk or treat. We even took them actual trick-or-treating to a few houses before calling it a night.
